Music
Valev Laube is a contemporary folk musician who primarily performs his original music in the United States and Europe. Born in Estonia, Northern Europe, he has mastered both classical music and the folk music traditions of Estonia, Finland, and Sweden. Beyond his classical music education at various institutions, Laube's participation in folk music workshops, youth exchange projects, and international music festivals has inspired him to compose and record many of his well-known tunes. Through his performances and involvement in various projects, this young artist has drawn inspiration from the music of Scandinavia, Estonia, Finland, Russia, Poland, England, and France.
Debut Album Liminal Available Now (2025)
I'm excited to announce the release of my debut album, Liminal, now available on all major streaming platforms. This collection features 18 tracks, including 15 original compositions and three reimagined Estonian folk tunes, reflecting a 15-year musical journey. Liminal blends contemporary influences with traditional melodies, capturing the nuances of growth and transformation. I invite you to listen and share in this personal milestone.
Album Equinox (2025)
This collection shows a more mature side of me—music rooted in my mental-health struggles and the self-damaging choices that hurt me physically and emotionally, and placed strain on the people who stood by me with patience and kindness. These songs are about healing and making amends, and I hope they offer comfort to anyone who needs a reminder to be gentle with themselves. The idea of an equinox—day and night in balance—guides this project. I want it to feel like the warm blanket you reach for as the leaves fall and winter approaches: something that helps you stay kind to yourself, so you have the strength to love others.
Album "Solstice" Coming in 2026
My third and final album in this trilogy. With it, I bring to a close a year-long journey of remastering and rerecording music I’ve created and carried with me over the past fifteen years. This is the final chapter of that story, and also a gentle farewell to my musical pursuits. I’ve chosen to step back from writing, recording, and creating—for a while, perhaps a long while—and I’m grateful to finish this chapter with clarity, pride, and a sense of completion.
